Learn about German culture firsthand by completing a service-learning project in Ingolstadt during the summer of 2010. The Freiwilligen Agentur in Ingolstadt (www.freiwilligenagentur-in.de) offers a variety of community projects that will fit your interests and background knowledge. You might work with the elderly or the homeless, give support to handicapped people, or help in an after-school program. A culture course will tie your service into larger social issues. Your home-stay family will offer you further cultural insights and meaningful interactions with Germans. Through all these components, you will deepen your understanding of German society in a way that goes beyond what more traditional study abroad programs can offer.
