German Language and German Studies

Located on the Neckar River and dominated by the massive ruins of the castle perched on the mountainside, Heidelberg is home to Germany’s oldest university, founded in 1386. More than 30,000 Students study at the University of Heidelberg which is consistently ranked among the top in the country. All language courses are taught by faculty members of the University of Heidelberg. You enroll in either intermediate or advanced German courses for 6 semester hours of credit. Classes meet mornings Monday through Friday. You may also take one or two optional 1-credit mini-courses, thus earning a total of 6 to 8 credits.
